Kambakkht Ishq

Directed by Sabir Khan. India. 142 min.

Presented by Bhaskar Sarikonda

“Advertised as the first Bollywood movie shot at a Hollywood studio with an appearance by a major US star, Sabbir Khan’s proudly silly Kambakkht Ishq” (“Incredible Love” in English) otherwise hews closely to a familiar Indian pattern.

There are six musical numbers in this 2½-hour action/comedy about a misogynistic stuntman (Akshay Kumar, the Adam Sandler look-alike from “Chandi Chowk to China”) who alternately bickers with and tries to bed a haughty but hot supermodel/doctor (Kareena Kapoor).

Blackface, custard pies, a musical watch accidentally left behind during surgery — Kambakkht Ishq has it all, including extended cameos by Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh as themselves. The filmmakers also help themselves to red-carpet footage of even bigger American stars.” (Lou Lumenick, NY Post)

In English and Hindi with English subtitles.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children. Advance tickets can be purchased at www.sulekha.com.
