the colonial theatre marquee

Jul 11 – 17

It's here. BlobFest 2008 begins at 7pm on Friday night. Please check the BlobFest Events page of our website for the complete schedule of events. We also have printed schedules for the weekend available in the lobby of the theatre. There's a lot happening and we want you to be a part of it all! Call the theatre at 610-917-1228 if you have questions.

This is really cool – the Postmaster in Phoenixville, Patrick Canning, with the help of BlobFest committee member Dave Lentz, has arranged to have a cancellation stamp for all three days of BlobFest to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the film's release! There will be actual stamps (with scenes from the film) on envelopes that you can then have cancelled by a post office person right at the fest. The cost is $5 per envelope — a great keepsake or a fun memento to mail to a friend who can't attend the fest!!

We have some other great special events happening in the next week as well. Next Thursday, July 17 at 8pm, The Three Irish Tenors perform at the Colonial! Tickets are still available. Then, next Saturday night, July 19 at 10pm, it's The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Advance tickets for this show will be available at the Colonial next week. More information on both programs is below.

There is no classic film this week, because BlobFest programming has oozed into Sunday as well. At 2pm you can see the new documentary An American Rebel: Steve McQueen (shown on DVD) and at 3:30 it's our last screening of The Blob — until next year, that is. Our next classic is Clerks on Sunday, July 20 at 2pm, sponsored and selected by Steel City Coffee House.

Our Children's Summer Series continues Tuesday at 10:30am with Balloon Freak John Cassidy. John holds several Guinness world records for balloon sculpting – he is truly amazing! Tickets are $5 per person and will be available at the door.

Lastly, Iron Man will play into next week — on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday only. Our next feature is Mongol, about Genghis Kahn's early life, beginning on July 18, followed by The Singing Revolution starting on July 25.

Thanks for your support and we'll see you at the theatre!
