Happy New Year! Thanks to all who came out to enjoy our jam-packed slate of holiday programs. We're now back to our regular schedule of features, classics, family programs and concerts; and gearing up for our next events — the Whisky Tasting on Jan 23 and the Members' Oscar Party on Feb 22.
Tickets are still available for Livingston Taylor, performing this Saturday night at 8:00. Tickets are $32 for the first ten rows of the theatre (Gold Circle), $28 for the back ten rows of the main floor (Orchestra), and $22 for the balcony. Tickets can be purchased with cash at the box office or online.
Our next feature is Let the Right One In, a restrained and compelling redux of the vampire genre from Sweden. It's first screening is tomorrow, Friday, at 7:30. More info and showtimes are below. Synecdoche, NY has it's last screening tonight at 7:30. Upcoming features include Christmas Tale (starting on Jan 16) and Rachel Getting Married (starting on Jan 23).
Our next family program is the amazing, mind-bogglingly energetic Balloon Freak John Cassidy. The show is at 2:00 on Saturday, lasts about 45 – 60 minutes, and is appropriate for ages 4+. Advance tickets can be purchased online.
Continuing our Errol Flynn theme for the month, on Sunday at 2:00 we're screening the perennial favorite The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). This film is appropriate for ages 6+ and the kids typically love it.
We've have a couple of special screenings coming up — on Monday, Jan 19, Martin Luther King Day, at 2:00 we're screening Do The Right Thing (1989), Spike Lee's brilliant take on race relations in Brooklyn. Then, on Monday, Feb 16, President's Day, we're showing Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) the Frank Capra / Jimmy Stewart classic about an idealistic senator who tries to change Washington.
Thanks for your support and we'll see you at the theatre!
