the colonial theatre marquee

Sep 18 – 24

The Cove has its last screening tonight at 7:30PM. Tomorrow (Friday) we start a one week run of the political satire In the Loop. Please note that there will not be any screenings of In the Loop on Sunday, nor will there be a matinee screening Wed, Sep 23 because Theatre Horizon will be here rehearsing Shakespeare!

What Shakespeare, you say? From Sep 25 – 27 we’re thrilled to have Horizon Theatre here to perform The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr [Abridged]. Details on this hilarious show are below. We’re also jazzed to welcome back the amazing City Rhythm Orchestra this Sunday to perform their Benny Goodman Centennial Concert. And let’s not forget that Kevin and Michael Bacon are returning with their band on Sat, Oct 10 to perform their third benefit concert for the Colonial and the French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust! Click the links at left for details.

Our theme for the classic films this month is Better on the Big Screen and this Sunday at 2PM wrap up the month with 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Our thanks to Sphere College for sponsoring this film! Next month on Sundays we’ll be showing double features of Universal and Hammer Studios classic monster films.

On Thu, Oct 1 we will celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of ACT – the Association for the Colonial Theatre. We’ll screen Miller DesignWorks’ documentary about ACT, as well as Run Lola Run, the first film we showed when we opened our doors on Oct 1, 1999. Things get started at 6PM with a cocktail party in our lobby. We’ll show the documentary short about ACT at about 7PM, followed by a Q& A about our history, a short intermission, and then Run Lola Run at 8PM. And, it’s all FREE! Please join us. All we ask is that you RSVP by calling 610-917-1228. Hope to see you there!
