the colonial theatre marquee

Aug 7 – 13

Summer Hours has its last screening tonight at 7:30PM. Tomorrow (Friday) we start a one week run of Moon (which I’m looking forward to seeing when I return from vacation.) After that, we’ve got Food, Inc. on Aug 14. And don’t forget, tomorrow is First Friday which means Fright Night at the Colonial! We’re showing Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn at 9:45PM on 35mm.

Liz Andersen, founder of the Phoenixville Farmers’ Market, is putting together a panel for our film discussion for Food, Inc. Please join us immediately after the 7:30PM screening on Wed, Aug 19 for what is sure to be an engaging and enlightening discussion about the film and food.

This Sunday at 2PM it’s Clark Gable and Jean Harlow again in China Seas (1935). Next week we’re screening Wife vs. Secretary (1936, DVD).

The last two Sundays of the month see the return of Spiritual Cinema sponsored by Wellsprings Congregation. This year they’ve picked Into the Wild (2007) for Aug 23 and Madagascar (2005) for Aug 30.

Our Children’s Summer Series continues with a show by The Zany Umbrella Circus on Tue, Aug 4 at 10:30AM. Tickets are just $5 per person and will be available at the door. The final two shows in this series are an amazing musical performer Christylez Bacon on Aug 18 and our favorite balloon freak, John Cassidy, on Aug 25. Advance purchase tickets to these upcoming shows are available on our website.

Parking update: As we continue to address the parking issues downtown, we’d like to say thank you to the following businesses who have opened up their lots for free parking on nights and weekends: One Bridge Plaza (347 Bridge Street, at Starr Street), Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust (Main & Hall Streets), Borough Hall (140 Church Street), and Frees Insurance (120 Gay Street).

Thanks for your support and we’ll see you at the theatre!
