Spend a Week at the Colonial Jan 1 – Jan 7

The theatre will be closed New Year’s Eve, but will be open every other day this week with feature and special screenings. Please check the schedule for special times this week.

Our new feature film this week is Spotlight. The film depicts Boston Globe reporters investigating priest sex abuse of children. Everything about this movie is outstanding — the performances, the way the true events are handled, the cinematography. In this day of digital news, this movie makes us stand back and realize what we may lose in the way of investigative journalism as we slowly kill off print media. We have extra matinee screenings this week so don’t miss it!

Our Young Audiences programs will return on Saturday, Jan 9 at 2PM with Spirited Away.

Our classic film this Sunday at 2PM is Rope. Alfred Hitchcock directed so many brilliant movies that the best known ones, – insert your personal favorite here – overshadow equally worthy films like Rope. Come see James Stewart (in his first collaboration with Hitchcock) in this clever and highly suspenseful film!

Any David Bowie fans out there?? We’ve got quite a treat for you! Friday, Jan 15 at 8PM, Point Entertainment presents Holy Holy. Tony Visconti and Woody Woodmansey, both members of Bowie’s band, perform The Man Who Sold the World album plus a set of other classic Bowie songs from 1969-73. Tickets may be purchased online here.

Join us the first and third Sundays of each month at 12:30 for an exclusive tour of the theatre and a visit to 225 Bridge St. Please RSVP by 5PM Thursday by calling 610-917-1228 and giving us the names of all attending.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for your support and we’ll see you at the theatre!
