Our new feature film this week is The Meddler. Susan Sarandon shines as Marnie, a woman who unwittingly meddles in the lives of those around her. Sarandon shows so much life, still so comedically and dramatically deft and sharp. Also starring Rose Byrne and J.K. Simmons. Don’t miss your last chance to see the fabulous Sing Street, tonight at 7:30.
Our classic film Sunday afternoon at 2PM is Black Narcissus. Winner of two Oscars for Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction, the film stars Deborah Kerr as Sister Clodagh who, after opening a convent in the Himalayas, encounters conflict and tension – both with the natives and also within her own group of nuns. The famous wordless sequence towards the end of the film displays a particularly interesting approach. The music to this sequence was written and recorded first. Played back during the recording of the sequence, it dictated the movements and motivations of the actors. Don’t miss it!
Our friends at Firebird Theatre present a new musical theater workshop: The Music Man Jr! Aug 1-20. It is a three week musical theater workshop camp located at the Colonial Theatre. Registration for participants is now open and may be accessed, along with all camp information HERE.
