Shorty's Amateur Film Contest Submission Deadline
Tue., June 15, 2010
The Shortys Contest is our way of paying homage to the late, great Shorty Yeaworth, Jr., director of The Blob. This year is our 4th annual contest and the films just keep getting better and better! To enter the contest just round up some willing victims, er friends and neighbors, and make a short film that is centered on The Blob and/or BlobFest. If youd like, you can use the winning script from last years script contest as the basis for your short film. The script is on the following pages. Otherwise, let your imagination run amock!
Entries must be family friendly, under five minutes, and made by non-professional filmmakers thats you! Entries must be submitted via YouTube no later than June 15. All entries MUST be submitted via YouTube. After you upload your video to YouTube, email the link to your video to email@example.com. In your email, please include your name, age, and contact info. We must receive your email with a link to your video by 12 midnight on June 15, 2010.
Entries will be sorted into two age groups (under 18 and over 18) and will be judged on creativity, originality, technical expertise and, of course, the all important watchability factor.
As the entries are received (and cleared for family friendliness) they will get added to our Shortys YouTube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/frankshorts) for all to see.
On June 28 the finalists will be embedded on our website (https://thecolonialtheatre.com) and the whole wide world will be able to vote on their favorite resulting in the Fan Favorite Award. Voting ends on July 5. The winners (of both the Fan Favorite Award and the Shorty Award) will be notified by us and should plan to attend BlobFest on Friday, July 9 so they can enjoy their work on the big screen, bask in the audience applause, and collect a Shorty!
Use your imaginations and have fun making your very own movie! The winning films in each age group will be shown at the on Friday July 9, 2010 during our Friday Night Re-Enactment Revelry.
