“Shall we play a game?” asks the computer that’s illegally accessed by too-smart-for-his-own-good high school hacker David Lightman (Matthew Broderick). Believing he’s hacked into a system for a software company, David begins playing a videogame called Global Thermonuclear War. What David doesn’t realize is that he’s not playing a game – and his opponent is the supercomputer responsible for overseeing America’s nuclear missile launch control centers. One of the biggest hits of 1983 and nominated for a Best Screenplay Academy Award, WarGames is as relevant today as it was when it was released. Its software and technology may have aged, but its message is still powerful.
The 4:30pm screening on Tue, Oct 17 will be Sensory Friendly. Our Sensory Friendly Screenings offer a more inclusive atmosphere because we believe that everyone should enjoy their time at the movies.
