Support the Annual Fund

Dear Friends, Patrons, and Members,

For nearly twenty years the Colonial has operated as a non-profit theatre. This status has enabled the theatre to grow and flourish. Ticketing and concession revenues provide some of the money it takes to run this beautiful historic theatre and the remainder is freely and generously donated by a community of wonderful people.

If you’ve donated in the past, thank you so very much for standing beside this beautiful old theatre as a patron and supporter.  

One of our donors recently said that when it first re-opened in 1999 the Colonial Theatre served as the ‘town’s warm embrace’. That was a difficult period in Phoenixville’s life and history that we’ve moved past together. Whether you’re a regular to the theatre or just getting to know us, the Colonial’s friendly brick façade and glowing marquee are still here to welcome you, your family, and friends to great entertainment and new memories.

The Colonial is a venue for vital artistic expression that unifies and uplifts. It’s a place where patrons can be seen cheering for movie heroes, greeting their neighbors and friends, and contributing to this community as volunteers who help to run our programs and manage this historic space.

In a recent public opinion study, Americans for the Arts[1] examined national perceptions and attitudes about the arts in America to help advocate on behalf of theatres like ours. Over sixty-percent said the arts lift them up beyond everyday experiences – that they are a “pure pleasure to experience and participate in.” Almost three-quarters of the respondents said the arts are a “positive experience in a troubled world.” (Email info@thecolonialtheatre.com and tell us why you support the Colonial Theatre or better yet – call or stop by our office to chat!)

Now more than ever we need your support. I hope that you’ll give generously to the annual fund by December 31st, become a member (check out our two new membership levels online) or renew your membership. As a positive result of our building expansion the Colonial’s footprint, programs, and patron amenities will grow in 2017 – and so will our annual operating budget.
