The region’s premiere, non-profit arts organizations, The Colonial Theatre is situated in the heart of downtown Phoenixville. The iconic theatre, a donor and member-supported institution with a 501c3 tax-exempt designation, operates three distinct venues and multiple event spaces in two adjoining historic buildings. Known internationally as the mother of Blobfest which annually celebrates the theatre’s role in the 1958 sci-fi classic, The Blob, The Colonial attracts more than 70,000 patrons per year to its eclectic line-up of live music programs, new movies, beloved film favorites, comedy, and community events.

Our History

From opera and vaudeville to theatricals and movies, the history of The Colonial Theatre is a vibrant, living, evolving story.

Opened in 1902 as an affordable alternative to the New York City theater scene, The Colonial thrived with live performance and silent films before blossoming into a mid-century movie palace. Today, people love our varied slate of concerts, live events, and first-run, classic and arthouse films.

The Colonial is the heartbeat of Bridge Street and the cultural soul of Phoenixville. With more than 3,200 presentations each year, there's something for everyone at the historic home of The Blob.
