Spend More Time at The Colonial Theatre!
What is a Volunteer?
Volunteers are the backbone of most performing arts centers around the country. A Volunteer is someone who cares about the Theatre and wants to help us make it a success. A Volunteer is a dependable, friendly, outgoing person with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. A Volunteer may be YOU!
The skills a Volunteer needs are pretty basic and the Colonial staff will be happy to train you on technical skills. The skills all Volunteers need are: patience, dependability, commitment, friendliness, and a deep care for the Colonial and our community.
If you have a specific skill or set of skills you would like to share with us and with others, consisting of anything from committee work to building maintenance, we will find a place for you in our Volunteer Family. Just let us know!
Who can be a Volunteer?
Types of Volunteers
We need 1 Volunteer ticket collector per each performance. These Volunteers are located just outside each auditorium and tear tickets before the audience enters the auditorium. Arrive 30 minutes before movie start time. Dress is smart casual.
We need between 4 and 8 Volunteer ushers for all concerts at the Theatre. The larger the show and the larger the potential audience, the more Ushers we will need. Ushers also hand out programs and playbills as needed. Arrive 1 hr 15 minutes before concerts. Dress is solid white top, solid black bottom.
We are always on the lookout for volunteers with a variety of skills to work during our special programming such as Blobfest and the Members’ Party.
We need Volunteers in various neighborhoods to post flyers.
We occasionally need Volunteers computer skills who can help us update our various databases.
There are several benefits to serving as a Volunteer at the Colonial Theatre including:
- Free admission to the events you are Volunteering to work (can be up to a $39.50 value).
- A chance to get to know others in our community and make new acquaintances and friends.
- The knowledge that you are helping to continue the Theatre for generations to come.
If you have the basic skills listed above and want to try volunteering for the Colonial Theatre, download a Volunteer Application or if under 18, a Youth Volunteer Application, or pick one up at the Theatre.
