In conjunction with our Art House Cinema screening of Aguirre, the Wrath of God, Film Programming & Membership Manager Dan Santelli will host a 45-minute, spoiler-free pre-screening seminar on Werner Herzog’s legendary and highly influential masterwork.

Made for a paltry $370,000 — with roughly one-third of that budget devoted to its mercurial lead actor — Herzog and his crew weathered the treacheries of a production that has since entered filmmaking lore. Dan will examine the film’s tumultuous creation, situate it within Herzog’s broader filmography, and explore its enduring impact on contemporary cinema, tracing its lineage from William Friedkin’s Sorcerer to Embrace of the Serpent.
