The Psychedelic Furs may not have invented rock & roll per se, but their influence since arriving on the post-punk scorched- earth landscape four decades ago has reverberated and resonated among all those who cherish the sweet-and-sour spot where rawness and romanticism meet. Experience it all again with The Psychedelic Furs Made of Rain tour.
From its exhilarating opening bars, Made Of Rain, the first Psychedelic Furs album in 29 years, has that singular, unmatched Furs sound. It’s a joy to hear again: fresher than ever, a unique mesh of sounds and layers, a fusion of smooth and stark, of restraint and abandon, of melancholy and rage, of optimism and nihilism, of tough and tender.
Opening Performer
Coyle Girelli’s dreamy dark indie-rock single “Here Comes My Baby” heralded his sophomore album, Funland. The multi-instrumentalist English songwriter began with alt-rockers Your Vegas (later The Chevin), who toured extensively with Duran Duran and Franz Ferdinand and performed on Letterman’s The Late Show.
As a songwriter, Girelli has collaborated with a diverse group of era- and genre-spanning tunesmiths, from Mac Davis (Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers) to Linda Perry (Gwen Stefani, P!nk). He’s written hits for international chart-toppers including Macklemore and BTS and found success in theatre co-writing songs for award-winning French musicals Robin des Bois and Les Trois Mousquetaires.
Girelli’s nuanced and compelling Funland is “custom-made for the nu-shoegaze crowd . . . but in no way derivative [.]” (Rolling Stone Magazine)
