SYNOPSIS
At the start of the new year, 32-year-old Londoner Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger) resolves to take control of her life and begins keeping a diary to track every cigarette smoked, calorie consumed, and romantic misadventure. Director Sharon Maguire adapts Helen Fielding’s bestselling novel into a candid chronicle of Bridget’s attempts at self-improvement as she navigates work, friendships, family expectations, and an increasingly complicated love life. Caught between her charming but unreliable boss Daniel Cleaver (a devilish Hugh Grant) and the reserved, quietly principled Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), a modern echo of Pride and Prejudice, Bridget records the messy and hopeful process of turning the page on a new chapter of her life.
