“This film is a beautifully tragic portrayal of mental health – and the importance of each life.” – Stuff.co.nz
The breathtaking, generation-defining Broadway phenomenon becomes a soaring cinematic event as Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Ben Platt reprises his role as an anxious, isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age.
Join us after the film for a discussion led by Clinical Director Lucas Zullo and Education Director Amanda Blue from the David Farber ASPIRE Center in Philadelphia. The ASPIRE Center (Advancement of Suicide Prevention Intervention, Research and Education) is a regional suicide prevention center at Jefferson University.
Dr. Zullo is a clinical psychologist and one of the founders and co-leaders of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) Trauma-Informed Suicide Prevention and Postvention Community of Practice and is a collaborator within the NCTSN Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression Collaborative group. Additionally, Dr. Zullo is an on-call consultant for The Trevor Project and 988.
Amanda Blue is responsible for developing and facilitating educational programs for professionals as well as community members. Amanda is a survivor of suicide loss, serves on the Chester County Suicide Prevention Task Force, and directs the Mental Health First Aid program in Chester. Amanda also co-hosts a weekly radio show “Let’s Talk About It,” on WCHE radio in West Chester. The program addresses mental health and suicide prevention with a wide range of guests in the areas of trauma, behavioral health, and prevention.
