The White Bruh – with Filmmaker Q&A

About

Kelly Gardner was raised amongst black people and he admired black role models who were members of one of the oldest black college fraternities. For 17 years he was denied membership until he finally proved himself worthy. His line brothers whom he pledged with were anything but welcoming at first but after seeing Kelly’s sincerity and work ethic they became lifelong friends. The White Bruh is a documentary that reveals what it was like for Kelly to join the fraternity and what his life is like as one of the few white members.

Kelly’s fond memories of his relationship with his high school teammate Allen Iverson is discussed.

This documentary is a feel-good story of how race does not have to be a barrier to friendship and brotherhood.

This will be a 90-minute program featuring a 32-minute short film and post film Q&A.

About the presenter: Todd Inman was raised in Chesterbrook, PA and matriculated through the Tredyffrin Easttown School District. He was the first Black person to integrate Valley Forge Elementary School. As he continued on with his schooling, he developed friendships with kids from all ethnicities even winning ‘Best Personality’ and ‘Most Friendly’ in the yearbook superlatives. He never lost his determination to uplift his race as he became a two-term president of the Black Student Union. It was Todd’s initiatives that introduced Black students to higher education and racial pride that led to the breakthrough to the next socio-economical class of many students. Todd now owns a multimedia company that specializes in promoting social impact, self-development, and mental health. The company inspires people through films, books, and live speeches.
