Exhumed Films Presents: LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH on 16mm
About
“A movie unconstrained by genre, made by people who wanted to do something scary but for whom that wasn’t the limit of their ambitions…a sequence shot in broad daylight in which Jessica and her nemesis take a swim is among the most purely frightening moments of cinema.” — Kim Newman, Sight & Sound
SYNOPSIS
Get ready to drift away into madness where nothing—and no one—can be trusted, as Exhumed Films and the Colonial Theatre present one of the greatest unsung horror films of the 70s: LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH, on Friday, July 31, in glorious 16mm!
This eerie, nightmarish 1971 horror classic from director John D. Hancock follows a sensitive young woman played by Zohra Lampert, who relocates to a secluded New England farmhouse with her husband and a friend, hoping for peace after a recent breakdown. Instead, Jessica begins to hear whispers, see unsettling figures, and suspect that the mysterious drifter they take in may not be entirely human. Or is it all in her mind?
Blurring the line between psychological horror and supernatural dread, LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH will creep under your skin with chilly unease and linger there forever!
The show will be preceded by a collection of 70s horror movie tv spots and an exclusive video introduction by director John D. Hancock!
