    SYNOPSIS

    Long before Hollywood finally brought her story to the screen, Harriet Tubman had already lived a life that seemed almost cinematic in its courage and improbability. Director Kasi Lemmons traces Tubman’s transformation from Araminta “Minty” Ross into the legendary liberator known as Moses, following her escape from enslavement in Maryland and her repeated journeys back south to guide others to freedom. Balancing the momentum of a pursuit thriller with the spiritual conviction that shaped its heroine, and anchored by Cynthia Erivo’s fiercely committed performance, this stirring portrait presents Tubman not as distant iconography, but as a tactician, visionary, and revolutionary in motion.
