Little Orange Flags

Join The Colonial Theatre for a special screening of the short film Little Orange Flags, a coming-of-age story filmed right here in Phoenixville. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, cast, and collaborators, as well as a brief reception.
The film, which premiered at the Sarasota Film Festival in April, features a collaboration of the area’s top artists beginning with writer/director Julianna Gelinas Bonifacio, whose family lives in Phoenixville. Together with her husband Matthew, they make Lizzy & Dicky Studios, a New York City-based film creation and production company.

The Film
Twelve-year-old Iris is sent to live on a farm in rural Pennsylvania after an encounter with her mom’s boyfriend. There, she is required to follow the rules set by Nana and enforced by Nana’s twelve-year-old granddaughter, Pruey. As the two girls form a friendship, Iris struggles to reclaim the childhood that was taken from her, while Pruey recognizes her own impending womanhood.
