“An underrated and overlooked gem, The Burglar is a very stylized film for a B movie. Wendkos uses striking camera angles and far-out set pieces to frame what is essentially a psychological story about family loyalty.” – Scene-Stealers.com
A thief (Dan Duryea), his half-sister (Jayne Mansfield), and his gang steal a diamond necklace from a Philadelphia mansion.
Matthew Sorrento, Ph.D., will provide a brief introduction to The Burglar. A local film professor and scholar, his work has explored the screen legacy of David Goodis. He has introduced several Stark House Press classic editions, including the reprint of Somebody’s Done For, and recently contributed a booklet essay to Arrow Video’s Blu-ray edition of Dressed to Kill.
