The Colonial Theatre is in the 2% of movie theatres, in the country, that can still project 35mm films. The following films and events run from May through August featuring programming on celluloid. In some cases, this is the only way we can screen these pictures.

Our screening of ‘Enemy Mine’ is a tribute to Louis Gossett Jr. who passed away in March of 2024. During a war between humans and the reptilian Drac race, spaceship pilot Willis Davidge (Dennis Quaid) ends up stranded on an alien world, along with enemy fighter Jeriba Shigan (Louis Gossett Jr.). While both Willis and his Drac counterpart can breathe on the planet, the environment and its creatures are relatively hostile, forcing the two to work together to survive. As time goes by, Willis and Jeriba become unlikely friends, though their unique relationship faces considerable challenges. Screens Sunday, May 19th, 2024.

Exhumed Films is thrilled to partner again with the historic Colonial Theatre for another installment of eX-Fest! eX-Fest is a full 12-hour/seven movie marathon showcasing the greatest, nastiest, and craziest exploitation movies ever made, all presented in 35mm. Hearken back to the glory days of grimy, violent, action-packed grindhouse cinema! A wide swath of exploitation genres will be represented, from kung-fu to blaxploitation, spaghetti western to crime caper, etc., including rarities you won’t see projected anywhere else! All film selections are kept secret and the titles only revealed to the audience as each film is projected.
