The Colonial Theatre will again be part of Pluto TV’s Summer of Cinema campaign. This Free Movie Weekend initiative partners with independent theaters across the country to offer complimentary movie tickets on select weekends. It’s a cornerstone of Pluto’s Business Karma initiative, launched in 2021 to support local businesses and bring communities back to the movies post-pandemic. Now in its fifth season, the program has hosted 50 free weekends in 30 states.
This year’s campaign includes a partnership with Oscar®-winning director Sean Baker (Anora), who is helping amplify the mission. As a passionate advocate for independent theaters, Baker recorded a welcome message for audiences.
“Free Movie Weekend is a meaningful initiative that shares a cause close to my heart. Local cinemas are cultural touchstones, they are gathering places where communities come together to experience stories as they were meant to be seen: on the big screen,” said Anora filmmaker Sean Baker. “I’m honored to partner with Pluto TV to help spotlight the independent theaters that play such a vital role in sustaining the art of cinema.”
Below you will find the films that are available for FREE on July 5th and 6th. The Colonial will add a new feature in the days to come. Additional details to follow.
