Science on Screen®: Why Freddy Haunts Your Nightmares – Presentation

What is morbid curiosity? Are you curious about what Gladiatorial fights in the Coliseum of Ancient Rome were like? Have you ever wondered how an autopsy is performed? Would you watch a documentary about a famous serial killer?

Social Psychologist Coltan Scrivner will answer these questions and more using A Nightmare on Elm Street as the framework during his Science on Screen ® presentation titled Why Freddy Haunts Your Nightmares.

SCIENCE ON SCREEN ® PRESENTS:

A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) | Why Freddy Haunts Your Nightmares a presentation on morbid curiosity with Social Psychologist Coltan Scrivner.

This was a socially distant screening that took place on Thursday, May 6th at 8:00 pm at the Colonial Theatre. The presentation below followed the screening of the film.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Coltan Scrivner is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Comparative Human Development at The University of Chicago and a Fellow at the Institute for Mind and Biology in the Behavioral Biology Lab. Broadly, he is interested in the social, cognitive, and biological factors that influence social behavior. Learn more about Coltan, his work, and his publications on his website.

Science on Screen ® is a grant-funded program that pairs film screenings with presentations by notable speakers in the field of STEM. The Colonial Theatre has participated in this program for 5 consecutive years.
