What does my donation support?
A contribution to the Colonial Campaign supports the theatre's operations. "Operations" includes a variety of categories, including but not limited to: helping us pay our artists a market rate, ensuring our ticket prices remain modest enough for everyone in our community to enjoy programming, and guaranteeing our patrons receive top-notch customer service from our fabulous team. In short, operational support is hugely impactful!
Doesn't my ticket or membership purchase cover those costs?
Ticket sales and membership help to support the artists and film costs, but the Colonial relies on donations to help us create jobs in our community by hiring a full staff to service our patrons, broaden awareness about the Colonial's amazing programs through marketing efforts, and increase innovation and quality in our lineup of arts event offerings.
I didn't know the Colonial was a non-profit!
Yes, The Association for the Colonial Theatre is a 501c3 non-profit entity. The non-profit formed in December 1996 by the pictured group of passionate locals who had the foresight to realize that an anchor arts institution would be essential to the success of downtown Phoenixville. They were right! Phoenixville was named "Best Small Town in America" by Travel + Leisure Magazine, with the Colonial Theatre's façade as the article's main photo. Why does the Colonial have a .com instead of a .org? Another "Colonial Theatre" has claim over the .org.
Does the Borough of Phoenixville own the original Colonial Theatre building and the Bank building?
No, the Colonial Theatre owns both the Colonial Theatre's original turn-of-the-century theatre, and the National Bank of Phoenixville building, constructed in 1925. The two distinct buildings are connected, with a combined 31,000 square feet, and our team presents live and film programming in three unique venues.
