The Parlour Reading Series: The Importance of Being Earnest
The Colonial PresentsAbout
Join us as we launch The Parlour Reading Series—a new staged reading initiative celebrating timeless plays in an intimate, historic setting. For our first installment, we present Oscar Wilde’s razor-sharp comedy of manners, The Importance of Being Earnest, a sparkling satire of Victorian society that continues to charm and disarm with its wit and wisdom.
This special staged reading brings together local performers and community voices for a shared evening of laughter, language, and timeless themes. Audiences are invited to enjoy a one-night-only experience of Wilde’s delightful dialogue and unforgettable characters in a stripped-down, actor-forward format that lets the brilliance of the text, and local talent, shine.
Whether you’re a lifelong lover of Wilde or discovering him for the first time, we welcome you to be part of this new tradition—where great stories take center stage, and words take the spotlight.
