The Parlour Reading Series: A Room with a View
About
On a trip to Italy, Lucy Honeychurch has a brief, but passionate, affair with the uninhibited George Emerson. To put the past behind her, Lucy agrees to marry the uptight Cecil Vyse back in England. But when her dalliance comes back to haunt her, Lucy must choose between living a life of conventionality or taking a step into the unknown. This new riotous adaptation of E. M. Forster’s classic is getting its first ever showing here at the Colonial.
There are two audition days: July 22nd from 7-9 PM, and July 23rd from 7:30PM – 9:30PM in the Colonial Theater’s Garden Suite. We plan to announce the cast by the end of the day, Sunday the 26th. If you know in advance you will be arriving late to auditions, please let us know on the audition form so we can plan accordingly

Rehearsal Commitment
-
Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9 starting Tuesday, July 28th continuing until the date of the show.
-
The show is on August 26th.
-
We do not intend on calling all actors to every rehearsal and will have a proper schedule for this when we know people’s availability
What is a Staged Reading?
The main difference between our staged readings and a traditional production is that the actors hold their scripts on stage. We will have blocking and props throughout this performance, and stage directions will be performed rather than read aloud. Basically, it’s a standard stage show but without the expectation to be off book.
Audition Structure
The audition will consist of reading sides from the script, so you do not need to bring anything except yourself! That being said, all of the characters in this show are British, so we encourage you to try your best British accent at auditions!
Here is a link to the audition sides, to give you a flavor of the show and the characters. That being said, there is NO expectation that you will study or even look at these sides before auditions. Sides will be printed, so you will not need to bring copies. Additionally, many of these sides are abridged for the sake of time and do not exactly reflect the associated scenes in the script. We do not guarantee we will go through every side listed.
