About
“Nothing would seen to be farther apart than nuclear war and comedy, yet Kubrick’s caper eloquently tackles a Fail-Safe subject with a light touch.” – Variety
FILM SYNOPSIS
Stanley Kubrick’s (2001: A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining) film about what could happen if the wrong person pushed the wrong button — and it played the situation for laughs.
U.S. Air Force General Jack Ripper spirals, believing the communists are conspiring to pollute the “precious bodily fluids” of the American people, and sends his bomber wing to destroy the U.S.S.R. This black comedy is based on the 1958 novel, Red Alert, and stars Peter Sellers in multiple roles alongside George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn, James Earl Jones, and Slim Pickens.
