Space Jam (1996)
About
“Space Jam is a happy marriage of good ideas–three films for the price of one, giving us a comic treatment of the career adventures of Michael Jordan, crossed with a Looney Tunes cartoon and some showbiz warfare.” — Roger Ebert
SYNOPSIS
This millennial touchstone took the biggest sports icon of its era, Michael Jordan, and paired him with the anarchic cartoon universe of the Looney Tunes to create one of the defining family blockbusters of the 1990s. When an intergalactic amusement park threatens the Tunes with permanent captivity, Bugs Bunny and company recruit His Airness for a winner-take-all basketball game against a squad of talent-stealing extraterrestrials. Equal parts sports movie, cartoon comedy, and pop-culture phenomenon, Space Jam remains a pitch-perfect time capsule of the 1990s, when NBA superstars, Saturday-morning cartoons, and blockbuster entertainment all seemed to occupy the same cultural universe.
