About

Directed by Olivia Wilde and adapted from Cesc Gay’s Spanish comedy Sentimental, The Invite unfolds over the course of a single evening as a long-married couple (Seth Rogen and Wilde) hosts their uninhibited upstairs neighbors (Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton) for dinner. What begins as an awkward social gathering gradually gives way to candid conversations about sex, intimacy, and the quiet resentments that accumulate over the course of a relationship. Balancing uncomfortable humor with keen observations about modern marriage, Wilde fashions an intimate ensemble comedy from this deceptively simple premise.
